Description

CALLING ALL COIN MAGICIANS!
ERROR 404 Will Blow Your Mind

ERROR 404 is Patrick Redford’s signature four phase coin Matrix routine that using nothing but four coins and four bills. I could tell you about it or you could just check out the video!

Phase One: Four bills are shown front and back and dealt to the table in a row. Moments later, a coin appears under each of the bills.

Phase Two: A flash matrix where four coins are covered by a bill only to vanish from under three and appear instantly collected together under one bill.

Phase Three: The four coins are each placed under each bill only to vanish slowly one at a time and then reappear under each bill they started under.

Phase Four: Lastly, the four coins are covered by the four bills one last time only to completely vanish leaving no trace of ever having been but a memory.

In this video download, you’ll learn multiple methods to perform each phase of this effect using both gaffed and non-gaffed coins. The emphasis of this teaching video is using nothing but four silver dollar coins and four bills and sleight of hand skill to create the magic. We also teach how to add certain gaffed coins to this routine to make some the execution of the routine even easier.  This is Error 404.

    Error 404
This is a four phase coin matrix routine. Patrick does it using 4 one hundred dollar bills and 4 silver dollars, thus the 404. He claims to have arthritis (it doesn’t show in the videos) so sometimes he makes a mistake, those Error 404. Also a riff on Not Found on internet pages.

Now that the big question has been answered, how about the trick? We finally have a matrix routine that makes sense. It has a logical beginning (4 coins are produced), middle (those coins jump around magically) and ending (the coins vanish). As he says, this plays great silent, what is happening on the table speaks for itself and doesn’t need any words to tell the story.

The 4 bills are shown very clearly front and back then laid on the table. When lifted the 1 coin appears under each bill. Two alternative handling are provided, each harder than the next, but in my opinion they all look the same to the spectator and the alternates just make it harder on you. But if you want to show off go for it.

Phase 2 is a Flash Matrix. Coins are placed in the corners of a square, each covered with a bill, then magically vanish from under their bill and all 4 appear in one corner. The moves are easy and deceptive, it is fun to perform.

Phase 3 is a kickback matrix. You repeat the matrix, showing 3 coins have vanished from under the cards, only for them all to appear back in the corners at once.

Finally several variations are given for vanishing all 4 coins and you end just as you started, with nothing but $400.

This is an effect I would not leave home without, it can play anywhere, you can keep it in your wallet and always be prepared. EXCEPT it requires a close-up mat. I can’t think of many matrix effects that don’t, you don’t want coins making noise when they are loaded under bills or cards, you need to lever them up for the steal, and you need them to slide noiselessly under your palm, so this is not a criticism just an observation. It isn’t really ready to go at a moments notice unless you are the kind of guy that always has a large close up mat in your back pocket.

As Patrick says, Phase 4 is the hardest. You can just come out with the coins, do phase 2 and 3, and be done or go into another coin effect. But you really should take the time to work on the vanish, the 4 phases work so well together and tell the story. It’s what you would do if you could really do this magically. you may even want to produce the bills, or start with 4 dollar bills, produce the coins, do phase 2 and 3, then vanish the coins. You could end by saying If I could just get the coins to stick around I’d make an even $400 on this trick, but $396 isn’t bad as you put the hundreds in your wallet.

The video and audio on this almost hour-long download is top notch. The teaching is very clear, some moves are shown without the covering bill so you can see what is going on underneath. The moves are repeated multiple times from different angles for clarity. Some credits are mentioned as the moves are introduced.

I don’t know where Patrick Redford has been all of my magic life, but I will definitely check out the rest of his catalog. This trick is a winner in my book and is highly recommended for any coin worker. If you already have your own favorite matrix here’s your chance to up you r game and learn something new. For the price you can’t go wrong.

(note: was provided a free copy of this download for an honest review. This is the same review I would have given if I paid full price. Heck, this is the same review I would have given I paid 3x the asking price)

If you like what you saw in the trailer, you will like the project. It’s well produced and Patrick is really clear and patient with the teaching. The sleights are not hard at all if you’re an amateur coin magician. If you are a beginner, this is a powerhouse of a routine to have in your repertoire and will take just a little bit of practice. I still can’t get over the idea of using dollar bills instead of cards. It’s such a “duh!” moment but we Magicians sure are funny aren’t we? Again, if you like the performance from the trailer, you will like the project. 5 stars out of 5 from me.
